Edward wanted to enlist in the Army, but that all changed when he and his parents got infected by the Spanish Influenza. Instead of going into the Army, Edward was hurried in a hospital, together with his mother. His father had already died from it, as he was hit by the first wave of the Spanish flu. His mother had asked Dr. Carlise this: “Do to my son what no other can do to help him.” Till today Carlisle still wonders if Edward‘s mother knew he was a vampire.
In the beginning of his immortal life, he was quite the rebel, as he drank from humans, but only the bad ones, such as burglars, killers and what not. But after, he still regretted his decision and went back to Carlisle to do the ‘vegetarian‘ diet. Later Esme, Rosalie, Emmett, Alice and Jasper joined them respectively.
Rosalie was made by Carlisle in the hope they would become mates, but Rosalie was never more than a sibling to Edward. He never felt that kind of connection towards Rosalie.

Afton walked through the halls of his ‘home’. Well, it wasn’t his home, really, but he felt home where he was. He liked to live together with others who knew him for what he was, and understood what he was, because they were what he was. And being together with Chelsea anywhere in this world would have made the smallest hut a home for him. He smiled when he thought about Chelsea. She was gorgeous. He wondered what she was doing at that moment. Thinking about that, he kept walking. The hallways were very dark and torches were standing in their holders. Afton liked fire. As a matter of fact, as a boy he was obsessed by it, which caused his mom to be worried whenever they left him alone. He had always told her not to worry, as he was always very careful with fire. On his way to Aro’s room, he passed some other guards. He nodded at them, but didn’t stop for a quick chat as he usually did. He had something to do, and he would do it quick, he always wanted to do things quick and efficiently.
When he arrived at the large wooden door, he knocked. And when Aro told him to come in, he opened the door and stepped inside. “Good morning, sir,” Afton said. Aro greeted him as well, and asked him to do something, to guard a vampire named Ms. Falkner to the decided place, as one of the Volturi needed to talk to her about something important, and nobody else could hear whatever would be said. He was also to take a partner. Afton nodded. “Okay, I am on it sir.” He made his way out of the room and found a guard who had apparently not much to do and decided to come with Afton. Then he went to his room to get his black hooded robe which all Volturi had to not be seen in the sun by humans. They met again, and putting the cap over his head, they walked outside. Ms. Falkner would pass the clock tower and that’s where they were going. After five minutes of waiting they saw her coming. They looked both ways to check for humans and then joined her on each side. It was quiet as they both led her to a silent place bordered by some trees. A small fountain was placed in the middle and a white bench was on the right of the fountain on which Ms. Falkner went to sit. Afton and his partner stood at her side as they were waiting.
