one single bite. the wolves were too late to stop it. one single bite from a vampire called laurent and everything changed. edward left bella thinking she'd be safer if he did, but instead he opened her up to the very fate he'd been trying to spare her from. jake had to watch his best friend writh in pain as she transformed, knowing that once it was over that would be it, there'd be no hope for her. the only power he had left was to stop the others killing her on sight. he protected her until she could make it on her own, but when that time came he had to watch her run. no one's seen her since.
posters and flyers litter the streets of forks and la push, 'have you seen this girl?' the only words emblazoned over them. the cullens raced back to town, desperate to find her and bring her into the fold of the family, but then the situation worsened when suspicous deaths began to be reported all over washington. they instantly thought it was bella, but are they wrong? red-eyed activity seems to be on the up in forks, and the volturi are turning their eyes because of it. could it be them that's behind the over-feeding going on in the area, destroying whilst trying to prevent the humans noticing? or could it be victoria and her little gang? all descending on the previously quiet, tiny town through shere morbid curiosity or revenge.
the wolves have got their work cut out for them protecting forks, but even inside their ranks there's chaos. jake's anguish over bella soon turned to something more desperately mind-consuming when he rescued a blonde girl, isadora devais, from a fire only to find she was his imprint. sam's having enough trouble keeping his growing numbers in line without them all going off and making allegiances even stronger than their one to him. it seems imprinting isn't as rare as he thought, and the problem with sharing each other's thoughts is they also have to share all the pining, it's driving them all up the wall at a time when they should be completely focused on hunting the vampires terrorising the place. hardly ideal.
forks and la push seems to be the place to be as a single bite ripples to a story that could go either way. will the cullens find bella? will sam be able to control his wolf pack? will the volturi pass by forks without feeling the need to interfere? and will the true cause of the deaths ever be revealed? nothing's certain anymore in two towns where everything is falling apart. they've all got to sink or swim now that normality is gone for good.
